St. Joseph, Stockyards Sheep and Goat Auction Report for 09/13/2018

Receipts:  2199    Last Month:  1904    Last Year:  1817

   Compared to last month, slaughter lambs mostly steady on comparable sales.  
Non-traditional lambs 50-60 pounds sold 20.00-25.00 higher, while heavier 
weights sold with a lower undertone on few comparable sales.  Feeder lambs sold 
sharply higher on comparable sales.  Slaughter ewes sold steady to 15.00 higher 
while bucks sold 20.00 lower.  Market kid goats sold mostly 20.00-30.00 higher 
on comparable sales.  Slaughter nannies traded mostly steady on comparable 
sales, while slaughter billies sold 20.00-35.00 lower.  Trade active, demand 
good.  Supply included near 54 percent sheep and 46 percent goats.  The sheep 
supply included near 80 percent slaughter lambs, 9 percent feeder lambs, and 8 
percent slaughter ewes, and the balance slaughter bucks and replacement sheep.  
Prices quoted per cwt unless otherwise noted.  Note:  The Sheep and Goat Auction 
is held the 2nd Thursday of each Month, start time is at 4:00 p.m.

   Slaughter Lambs:  Choice, few Prime 2-3 60-70 lbs 180.00-200.00; 100-135 lbs 
120.00-137.50.  Good to Choice 2-3 50-60 lbs 190.00-200.00; 60-70 lbs 150.00-
160.00; 70-80 lbs 130.00-160.00, few at 117.50; 80-90 lbs 120.00-135.00; 90-100 
lbs 100.00-125.00; 100-160 lbs 100.00-115.00.  Non-Traditional 50-60 lbs 187.50-
200.00, few at 155.00-165.00; 60-70 lbs 155.00-202.50, few at 120.00; 70-90 lbs 
115.00-140.00; 90-105 lbs 100.00-115.00, few fancy at 200.00. 

   Feeder Lambs:  Medium and Large 1  30-50 lbs 205.00-255.00, few fancy at 
320.00. Medium and Large 1-2  30-50 lbs 157.50-195.00.

   Slaughter Ewes:  Good 2-4  60-180 lbs 65.00-82.50; Utility 1-2 75-145 lbs 
35.00-61.00.

   Replacement Ewes:  Young  100-115 lbs 130.00.

   Slaughter Bucks:  96-280 lbs 37.50-55.00.

   Replacement Bucks:  Young to Middle Aged  95-290 lbs 75.00-100.00.
